Pumpkins at the Park event celebrates Co-op Month

Sunset Lake at Thompson Park in Guymon will be covered in orange the evening of October 20. Panhandle Telephone Cooperative, Inc. (PTCI) and Tri-County Electric Cooperative (TCEC) are holding a free pumpkin patch event to celebrate National Co-op Month. Pumpkins at the Park promises fun for the whole family with free rides on the Lions Club train, free photos, and a pumpkin decorating contest under the Lions Pavilion. Participants will enjoy free hot dogs, water and cookies.

Pumpkin decorating begins at 5 p.m., ending at 6:30 p.m. Decorating materials will be supplied. First and second place prizes will be announced for each age category at 6:45 p.m. In honor of Main Street Month, Main Street Guymon will judge the contest.

“We wanted to bring our members out for a fun evening to show our appreciation for them,” said Zac Perkins, chief operating officer, TCEC. “This is one of the many ways we do that.”

PTCI and TCEC are local cooperatives serving the Oklahoma Panhandle.

“Because we serve much of the same customer base, it makes sense to come together as cooperatives to celebrate Co-op Month with those who support us,” said Shawn Hanson, chief executive officer, PTCI.

Pumpkins at the Park is for all ages to eat, ride the train, take photos, and most of all decorate pumpkins together to take home for fall festivities.
