Youth supported by TCEC
As your electric cooperative, we supply more than electricity to your school. We are committed to ensuring the quality of life in your school and classroom are enhanced with the programs we offer.
Oklahoma Gross Receipts Tax
TCEC members with service in Oklahoma in 2016 contributed more than $1.5 million to local secondary schools through the state’s gross receipts tax. This tax appears as a line item on electric bills for members with service in Oklahoma. Ninety-five percent of collected funds directly benefit schools with five percent going toward the state’s administrative cost.
Annual TCEC School Contribution
TCEC makes a donation to schools in its service territory based on the number of enrolled students. It is intended to support student organizations and activities that are not covered in the school budget. Students are encouraged to ask their school administrator when raising funds for student organizations, yearbook ads, program ads, special events and other activities.
TCEC coordinates an electrical safety poster contest each year. The co-op also offers safety demonstrations using a tabletop model or a life-size LiveLine demo. These show kids the dangers of electricity in everyday situations. Schools can request a demonstration for all grades.
Scholarships and Free Trips
TCEC funds several scholarships to Oklahoma Panhandle State University. The cooperative also offers several free trips for eighth graders and high school juniors.
