At Tri-County Electric Cooperative, we know our members are our owners and we are actively engaged in measuring and improving the satisfaction of our member-owners. The cooperative has an independent agency conduct phone surveys with a statisically valid sampling of its membership base on a continuous basis throughout the year. The survey questions guage member satisfication overall and determine the cooperative's American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI) score. Results are reported to the cooperative quarterly, where management reviews them and communicates them to the wider employee base.
Questions about customer satisfaction, service expectations, ideal utility attributes and loyalty make up the ACSI score. The index, developed by the American Society for Quality, University of Michigan School of Business and CFI group, is one of the most recognized customer satisfaction indices in the U. S. By tracking the ACSI score, the cooperative can compare its performance to past quarters and years as well as benchmark its performance against other cooperatives, the utility industry as a whole and other unrelated industries as well.The chart below illustrates such a comparison of scores for the fourth quarter of 2009.
