Bill payment scam targets local utility members

Members are receiving scam phone calls claiming their electricity will be turned off within hours unless they make an immediate payment. Individuals impersonating TCEC and other utilities try to gain access to the member’s bank account or ask for payment through a third-party vendor or a prepaid card.

Payment scams in general are an issue nationwide so it’s important all members are aware of the possibility they may be contacted.

Concern For Community Shines In Co-Op Cares Food Drive - Boise City Presentation

During its annual Co-op Cares Food Drive, TCEC employees raised funds and the cooperative matched them to raise $3,140. Four food pantries in local communities will each receive $785 thanks to the generosity of the cooperative and its employees.

TCEC’s donation was delivered to Cimarron County Food Pantry in Boise City on a very cold day, February 4. The pantry survives solely on donations.

Energy consumption greatest factor impacting electric bills

Tri-County Electric Cooperative (TCEC) members have been fighting the winter chill, causing higher energy consumption for some members in December and leading to higher electric bills in January.

Local Cooperatives Contribute to YMCA

Panhandle Telephone Cooperative, Inc. (PTCI) and Tri-County Electric Cooperative (TCEC) came together to donate $5,000 toward the Texas County Family YMCA’s annual fundraising campaign.

The annual support campaign helps fund the YMCA’s scholarship program, which helps low-income families with membership and program fees so they can take advantage of the YMCA’s offerings. The campaign also helps to keep programs affordable for all members, provides upkeep for the facility and helps with the overall sustainability of the YMCA.

The donation was delivered to Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry in Guymon on January 8. The pantry survives solely on donations.

“We are thankful for donations,” said Gail Parsley, Loaves and Fishes coordinator. “You can be assured we do our best to use every dollar wisely.”

Scammers are targeting TCEC members, please report suspicious calls

TCEC members have recently reported receiving bill payment scam phone calls. Remember, TCEC never contacts members to demand immediate payment prior to disconnection. Anyone receiving such a call should hang up and call us directly at 580-652-2418.
